Minor success!

After turning up to a number of hospital appointments only to find out that they had been cancelled but I had not been informed, I have phoned ahead of today’s medication review appointment with a Clinical Pharmacist at my GP’s surgery to check that the appointment was actually still on the books. Good thing I did because they had moved it to yesterday without telling me (I wouldn’t have agreed to an appointment yesterday because of the hospital appointment that I thought I had yesterday (which, once saga happened, had been cancelled without informing me)) and so I missed it. grrrrrrrrrrrrrr

Not in a good place, again.

I’ve got a couple of things I want to post about.
- Recent hospital fiascos.
- Benefits, care and the cost of living.
- New diagnoses and investigations.

But I can’t even face thinking about it. My brain just won’t let me. All I can do is mindlessly watch YouTube (still no TV, see finances) knit and crochet. Perhaps I might manage to paste a few emails into private posts to edit later. Perhaps I will just pathologically demand avoid and sleep for 20 hours.

I am trying to get at some older posts on the blog but apparently The Wayback Machine has only archived the latest two pages of the blog. Luckily most post were archived/copied at my LJ which I have just imported here in preparation to delete the LJ(s). It is a pity because someone gifted me the permanent account there but… LJ is in Russia and I am out as agender and asexual.

Heads up about reading list and access changed

Am trimming my subs/reading and access circles here on DW. If I read you on LJ and you crosspost the same stuff here and there, I will read you on LJ and remove you here. I rarely post here and my LJ is a permanent account.

If I remove you and you think I needed to keep reading you here because you do not post to LJ then please do let me know!

P.S. This is not intended personally! No offense is intended, either! I just do not have time to read DW *and* LJ.

Importing/backing-up my LiveJournal to my DreamWidth

This may take a while and things from LJ may not work in DW (my LJ is permanent and my DW is a free account), for example the polls. Also, I am not importing any userpics. No room within my 6 DW icons for my 196 LJ icons!

P.S. I am NOT moving to DW and am NOT deserting my LJ. My LJ is permanent as long as LJ itself is! This is merely for backup purposes.

I am probably not going to be posting here much because I have my permanent account over at LiveJournal, but I may crosspost some stuff and I will be reading my Reading Page now and then. At least I have nabbed the "natalief" username for consistency!

*wonders how to code a username link on DW*

Interestingly, even though DreamWidth is a fork form the LiveJournal code and is diverging already, natf is still coded by using <lj user="natalief"> and not <dw user="natalief"> or somesuch.

Thus far my impressions of DreamWdth (compared to LJ of course, as that is the site I am used to using):
PRO:

"Reading Page" and not some weird and angst-causing "Friends" analogy.

Ability to subscribe to a user and/or allow them reading access to your journal without having to do both.

The ability to crosspost to other LJ clones/forks.

Links on posts / pages to load them mystyle and format=light without having to use bookmarks (like I have to on LiveJournal).

CON:

No nice dark text on pale background monochrome site style yet. Lots of pink or purple and nasty hard to read (for me) white text on black background..

No client apps like xjournal as yet. Once xjournal allows crossposting (and the backup of more than one journal) I will be happy!

I had hoped that one of the LJ clones/forks would have the ability to make one or more posts "sticky", i.e. always appear at the top of your journal (without playing with fake posting times).

Many of the site links (e.g. the "Zesty. Powered by Dreamwidth Studios" style link at the bottom of an entry page like this one) lead to LiveJournal and then I get confused about which site I am on because I have the same icon there (and everywhere for consistency and recognisability). Looks like I need a different icon here.

I love how this is being so actively developed. I almost wish my permanent account was on here rather than (or as well as) on LiveJournal! Not that I can afford $200 to buy one here…
